Kerala's Slow March

Until recently Kerala was famous for fast movements. Vehicles were fast; people were fast; monsoon winds were fast .... even accident deaths were allegedly due to the fast driving. Private bus drivers have been always persona non grata of the peace loving people. Because, they were killers of the innocent people. All these are things of the past. Now, Kerala is slow or better to say snail fast, thanks to the poorest of the poorest road conditions. The roads throughout the state are defiled and defaced with potholes. They are not just holes, but are caves and death wells. So, obviously Kerala is slow ..... the whole state moves slow just like the government machinery of the poor state. Keralites heard lot of tall promises from ministers, chief minister, but all remained mirage .... People still at the receiving end. Blame games are going on ... People blame government. Ministers blame bureaucrats. Bureaucrats blame contractors ... Contractors blame government as well as the weather. Weather cheats all ! Ultimately what we do get is hours long traffic jams. Fifteen minutes' drive takes more than an hour.

Last year, the honourable high court of Kerala banned traffic blocking demonstrations and protest marches. It was all due to the sufferings of the people. But, even courts can not do much. The land of P.T. Usha and Preeja Surendran are no more on fast track.
